Our blue bathroom

We decided to go with the blue paint in the master bathroom. It's VERY blue and at first we weren't quite sure about it. It's growing on us though. I think we'll like it more once the white trim is up and there's a little more contrast. The vanity will also be white, as well as the trim around the tub. You get the idea.

Firring strips & painting chics

Last weekend we started working on one of our next big projects, the siding. We plan on covering the lovely white tyvec "home wrap" with cedar board & batten. So, we started the day by hanging firring strips on the west/deck side of the house. The strips are hung horizontally every 16" and it's critical that they line up on the interior studs. Speaking of studs, check out that guy on the ladder! I don't think I've ever seen him wear that green shirt! We bought one test sheet of cedar to test out stain colors and really haven't found a stain we like yet. So, on to something different. We've decided to test out a few "Cabot semi-solid" stains on the next go-round. Hope we have better luck there.Later in the day, after getting roasted on the deck, we moved inside to hang extension jambs and continued with the never ending electrical. On Sunday Todd and Willy began setting up the woodworking shop in the basement. They put together the joiner and dust collection system and even ventured out to Home Depot on a busy Sunday afternoon for shop lights. Mom and I spent most of the rainy Sunday priming windows. We're almost finished with the first floor, just a few more windows in the master bedroom. Check out "go-go-gadget" Linda…

Back at it…

Over the long weekend we worked inside and outside of the house. We did our best to stay focused on finishing up the electrical rough-in, but were a bit distracted by the pretty green grass coming up. We dusted off Trish's old "Yard Man" mower and mowed our patchy grass for the first time. The poor mower is injured and probably won't last long.We tied up a few loose ends with electrical and are almost ready for the inspection. Just a little more grounding to do, then we'll call in the inspection. We haven't run the circuit for the smoke detectors yet and plan on having the electrical inspector fail us and then tell us how he wants it done. We really have no idea how the inspection will go but we're certainly ready to get it over with.Wiring the heat pump circuit…We also started priming interior windows and got a couple coats of "red roof" paint on our deck door. Linda was there to lend a hand. It's nice to have a mom who's a professional painter! And last but not least, a few familiar faces stopped by. We think Bradley might have a crush on Willow.
