Hello and Happy 2008! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. Geez, it's been awhile since our last post. We've been hibernating for the past month and also enjoying time with family and friends. We had a nice visit with Stephany who was in town from Portland, Oregon and then with Mike & Marita who were also in town from Portland.
Now it's back to full work weeks and working on the house. We must get occupancy!

We are chipping away on our list and are very close to calling in our final electrical and plumbing inspection. One porch light down, one more to go. Here's how we celebrate…

We just got our last piece of equipment for the woodworking shop in the basement. Meet Mr. table saw…Todd and Willy finished putting it together last weekend. It's a green beast and now ready to tackle the trim, baseboard molding and stairs. We brought a pile of poplar boards over from our lumber yard at the farm. We'll use the poplar for the trim, which will eventually be painted white. We also have piles of oak and walnut that we will use to build our cabinets and vanities.

I've been chipping away on tiling the master shower (no, it's not done yet). I had a mini nervous breakdown while tiling the ceiling last Saturday. I'm being a big baby about the job. I even threw my tools and a bucket full of thinset out the front door. Totally unproductive, but it felt good. Ahh...the joys of home building. Todd just laughed and then encouraged me to take out my aggressions on the bucket and proceeded to tell me to "kick it!" Kudos to all those tile setters out there. I hate it and want nothing more to do with thinset, wet saws or grouting.

I think I'm better off taking photos of Todd when he's working on the house or of all the deer that pass through our property. I snapped these this morning when I was taking Willow for a walk. I love how the deer are silhouetted against the pink sky.

Ohhh! The table saw!!! Ben would be sooo jealous! We might have to cave and get one of those, too!
And Erin, I loved your story about your nervous breakdown...that totally sounds like something I would do!
