Home Sweet Home

It's official, we've moved in! We have Athey Floors lined up to sand and seal the hardwood floors but they won't be out until October and we decided we couldn't wait that long. Yeah, it's a pain to move things back out of the way but it shouldn't be too big of a deal. We've resisted the urge to bring things out of storage that we haven't seen in two years and only selected what we really need to hold us over. Last night we dug out a few plates, a couple pint glasses and our favorite sauté pans. We pulled out things that made us cry (Willow's puppy photos) and laugh (musical sombrero chip bowl-why do we own that?). Willy and Todd built a makeshift sink last week and we covered the rough OSB top with a classy, faux wood grain contact paper. Nice huh?Hopefully it will last until we build our real cabinets and coutertops. We now have a kitchen sink, a shower upstairs and a toilet in the downstairs guest bath (which requires a flashlight to get to at night). Things are a bit spread out but it feels awesome to be in our house. We've been busy priming and wiring in outlets, lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. There is still so much to do but we're getting there. We plan to get back outside and work on siding this weekend. Here are some more photos from last weekend, including a visit from our nephew River. It's amazing how the drywall just sucks up the primer. We blew through the first 5 gallon container and picked up 10 more gallons on Saturday. It won't be long before he's climbing a ladder!
