An afternoon on the river

On Friday afternoon we made a spontaneous decision to strap the canoe on the subbie and head to the Shenandoah river with Logan, Kelly and the boys. When River woke up from his nap he quickly learned that he would be going out in a canoe for the first time. He was so fired up and when we showed up he burst out the front door with his bucket of rocks and ran circles around the car. Kelly and I stayed on the shore with Mason and Cedar and watched as Logan, Todd and River took off. River was a little nervous at first about the big open water but hopped in the canoe without hesitation and went on his way. He had a blast with his green bucket and threw rocks out and scooped up water. He saw fish jumping, baby geese and fisherman fishing and drinkin' beer. Woo-hoo! We hung out at the take-out spot for awhile and River played in the water. Mason took a dip and Cedar watched the action from her car seat.Just look at those yummy legs… Here's our smiley girl, drooling the afternoon away...You gotta have a crawfish tattoo when you go out on the river, right?I think it's safe to say that River had an awesome time and we're looking forward to future canoe trips with him. Here he is getting dizzy in the water…
