Operation Swinging Bridge
A couple weekends ago we took part in "Operation Fix the Swinging Bridge Day" with Lew and Chris. This old bridge is located on the North Fork of the Goose Creek. You can access the creek from both Mt. Gilead and the town of North Fork. Lew owns Willowcroft Vineyards up on the mountain and frequently hikes down the hill and crosses over to visit his daughter and her family in North Fork. Todd and I used to go to this bridge back in high school but I don't think we've been back since then. The bridge was in need of some repairs, so we offered to help. We threw a handful of oak boards in the farm truck, along with all sorts of supplies that we thought we'd need, like nails, bolts, a socket set, the arborist chainsaw, etc. There were a few unsafe boards on the bridge that we replaced and the ladders also got a little tlc. It's a great spot along the creek and someone put a lot of work into building the bridge. It's nice to be reminded that there are places like this right down the road from us. I think we'll be taking Willow there a lot this summer! Here we are hiking down to the bridge.Time for some new boards!Lew and Chris work on the platformTodd unhooking a board. They were attached with wires.
